If users want GM then they can get an API key. I don't think Bev you should have to provide map solutions at any running cost to you.
That way future server URL changes are easily handled with low risk of requiring PP code update. Can PP be enhanced to allow users to set their personal API keys so GM maps will download? It would be great to have a general config for maps users can edit - like a string with parameters they can define various formats with. Can this be fixed Bev? Also regarding the Maps download in general, as I mentioned I have a GM API key. I cannot help but feel that's the reason OSM downloads fail.
Does not matter if I have a big zoom or a tiny one in PP - zoom is lways 20. That's great - so I did another OSM download test with varying zooms in PP and the URL submitted always sets zoom=20. So I edited the URL to 18 and bingo it works in a browser. If I use that link in a browser, it fails saying zoom has to be 0 to 18 - you see above its 20. So I did some Wire Sharking. The URL that PP sends is this: |luu8290tlu%2C8g%3Do5-9470l6&size=1916,950& zoom=20¢er=-27.4xxxxxx,153.1xxxxx (the X's are to obscure my position). But OSM should work - its open and free after all. I get how Google Maps (GM) might not work with Googles transition to mandatory API key (which I have - more later). Well I have the latest PlanePlotter (PP) installed and I cannot get OSM to download - I receive the server may be unavailable message.
